Passionate About Inspiring Others

Hi, I’m Lee Ash, welcome to this site.  I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Therapist covering Plymouth, and surrounding areas.  I set up Endeavour Personal Development in 2007.

I have 21 years of experience providing counselling and therapy. I believe in working with clients to understand their concerns in a friendly and non-judgemental manner. My experience has been gained working in the NHS as well as the private, charitable, and voluntary sectors. I have worked with young people through to adults, many of these with complex behavioural needs due to trauma, attachment disorders, adult mental health, substance abuse, domestic abuse, PTSD, eating disorders, self-harm, personality disorders, gender identity, men’s mental health, homelessness, abuse and neglect.

Through my therapeutic work, I have a vast knowledge of working with complex trauma, adult and child attachment problems and other difficult emotional and behavioural problems. I have counselled clients and run therapeutic and psychosocial group work sessions.

For 10 years, I worked with Plymouth University as a practice learning supervisor for stage 2 and 3 BA social work students and MA social work students. I also provide therapeutic counselling to counsellors in training. I offer a reduced rate to support them through their courses.

I have also worked closely with Adult Social Workers, Recovery Workers, Children’s Social Worker’s, Solicitors, Children’s Guardians, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Specialist Midwives, Perinatal Mental Health, IDVA’s, Police, Health Visitors, Community Psychiatric Nurses and other specialist services.

During the start of my counselling career, I spent time working with the police child protection team supporting victims and their families, working with the Youth Offending Team and within 16 schools in the Plymouth area.

I was an expert witness within the Family Law Courts throughout the United Kingdom for  9 years.

I was the admission, assessment, and referral coordinator for a residential rehabilitation unit for two years.

I also featured on BBC TV’s Panorama Programme ‘Addicted Last Chance Mums’ (see the video in the video’s section).

I have been working as a counsellor in private practice for 17 years. I have specialised in trauma, complex trauma, addictions, personality disorders and anxiety-related conditions.

My passion in the last few years is trying to get more men and young men to engage in therapy. I have specialist knowledge working with women but experienced men struggling to seek and participate in therapy.

To date, I have around 7000 hours of face to face counselling and 2000 hours of group therapy experience.

I offer a combined approach to therapy, working face to face, (or online such as Zoom). I ran therapeutic groups and provided one to one counselling sessions throughout the COVID 19 pandemic online.

Since the pandemic, I have now been working online with clients across the UK and Europe.

My personal journey has allowed knowledge, wisdom, kindness with a sense of humour to influence my approach as a therapist.
